Peter Robinson — music industry counsellor

Who I work with

I work with clients from a wide range of backgrounds. We can meet for in-person sessions (in Hackney, east London), as well as via Zoom.

With a professional background in media and music, I’m attuned to issues that can come up in those areas, and take a special interest in working with musicians and people in the music and broader creative industries. More on that here.

My credentials

I’m a registered member of the BACP and an NCPS accredited registrant; I’m also a BAPAM registered practitioner and a member of the Music Industry Therapist Collective.

My qualifications include a PGDip in Integrative Counselling and Coaching plus training in areas like couple and relationship therapy, motivational interviewing and transformational coaching, plus CPD in topics such as grief, perfectionism, domestic abuse, suicide, gender and sexuality conflicts and trans awareness.

How I work

A strong, collaborative relationship is at the heart of good counselling so my goal is to create, with you, a comfortable therapeutic environment where your preferences are built into our work. I hope the space we create — whether in person or online — is one where you’ll feel supported, heard, and understood.

I draw on therapeutic styles including person-centred, psychodynamic and existential therapies, along with CBT and acceptance and commitment therapy. (If you don’t know what any of this means, well, neither did I when I was looking for my first therapist — I’ll be happy to talk it all through with you.) I can also bring coaching into our work, so as well as finding clarity in your past and present, you can also look at what comes next.
